Phoenix Offer Family Fun For Home Opener

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Live music, authentic street tacos, a chaperoned Kid Zone, local beer, and thrilling sports action are all on the agenda for Friday night in South Philly! May 13 at 7 p.m., the Philadelphia Phoenix play the Montreal Royal for their very first home game of the 2022 season and their goal is to have 1000 fans come out to watch.

Live music will be from Beyond the Bars, an incredible local non-profit that teaches youth in local prisons, homeless shelters, and trauma units how to play music.

Beer will be sold by Triple Bottom Brewery, a female owned and operated brewery on 9th and Spring Garden that creates meaningful, living-wage jobs for people who have experienced homelessness or incarceration, and may otherwise be excluded from the mainstream economy.

“The goal is to not only have a successful team on the field, but to be able to make impactful contributions to our community,” says Christina Lee Chung, President and Managing Partner of the Phoenix. “And there are few organizations in Philly more dedicated to the concept of community than Beyond the Bars and Triple Bottom Brewery.”

The Phoenix Kid Zone will be better than ever as local business, My Best Birthday, will bring their fun-filled activities and entertain children of all ages. Kids will be able to watch the game, playdate, and participate in fun, age-appropriate activities. During the quarter activations they get to participate in a crowd favorite, the children's 50-yard dash.

Tacos Los Catrines, an authentic Mexican street taco vendor, will be there to serve all kinds of Mexican food. Additionally, there will be giveaways courtesy of Schweiger Dermatology Group, Supergoop!, and another local woman-owned business, AmberNoon.

“Our goal is to put on the most exciting sporting event in South Philly,” adds team Fun Czar Johnny Goodtimes. “A tall order when we’re competing against the four major pro sports teams that play nearby, but I genuinely think we can put on just as good of a show at a much more reasonable price. The sport of ultimate is absolutely thrilling, and when you add tacos, beer, and a chaperoned Kid Zone, you’ve got a winner. ”
