Major Changes for 2019

The Nashville NightWatch and San Francisco FlameThrowers franchises will not return to play in the American Ultimate Disc League for the 2019 season. Effective today, the owners of both franchises are ceasing operations.

The FlameThrowers were a top team in the West Division in their five seasons as a franchise. They made the playoffs in every season since their inception in 2014, with the exception being 2018, finishing with a 45-25 overall record during the regular season. San Francisco won the league championship in 2017. The FlameThrowers will retain the rights to the brand and  plan to explore creating a women's pro team in the near future.

The NightWatch were established as a franchise in 2015 during the inaugural season of the South Division. Nashville never exceeded three wins for a season in their four years of play, finishing with an 8-48 overall record during the regular season.

“We are going to focus on player development in the Nashville area and hope to be back in the AUDL in the future,” said Nashville NightWatch owner David Trett.

The AUDL will proceed into the next season with 21 teams in four divisions spanning the United States and Canada. The opening pull for the 2019 season is scheduled for the first weekend of April.
